Are you amongst the best visitor economy businesses in the Tees Valley?
The North East of England has an innovative visitor offer, however, to ensure we continue to grow the visitor economy we need look at how we continue to create new novel, authentic visitor experiences and products that reflect the richness and uniqueness of this offer and that attract global audiences.
By developing products in line with domestic and international visitor needs in mind, we will help drive the growth of the visitor economy and support the profitability of our industry. Product development is about the creation of innovative and exciting new products, services and experiences that will attract visitors and drive footfall to individual businesses.
Destination North East England is looking at creating targeted interventions to improve our product offering of the region, making it more appealing to overnight and international visitors and bringing us closer to market. This programme of activity will support the business community to create new experiences relevant to different markets. This includes training around product development, supporting businesses to become bookable online through New Adventures and support to create unique experiences and products that can be sold through national and international Travel Trade.
To enhance our regional offer Destination North East England is identifying strategic challenges and opportunities to help unlock the potential of the visitor economy in the region. So far, this has included the development of a digital roadmap, an accommodation and business events strategy as well as the creation of a regional evidence base.
Moving forward it will also include the creation of a Motorhome Strategy, Film and TV strategy, investigation into the relaunch of a Norwegian ferry route, scoping for a major attraction in the region and research into the requirements of international markets.
