Sarah Green

Sarah has been Chief Executive of NewcastleGateshead Initiative since 2020 and is responsible for leading the destination and inward investment agency, which covers Newcastle, Gateshead and the wider region.

Sarah started her career training as a lawyer with Clifford Chance in London, Hong Kong and Shanghai, returning north to work at regional development agency One North East. She represented north east business as CBI Regional Director and was subsequently CBI Director of Region and Nations, bringing together industry and government to drive economic growth and innovation. Sarah has an MSc in Urban Regeneration, an MBA and is currently completing a PhD scholarship at Durham University Business School.

Sarah is also part of government's Tourism Industry Council and chairs the Bank of England’s North East Citizen Panel. She is an independent advisory board member at Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM), the senior council member at the National Trust, a non-executive at Ryder Architecture and a member of the City Nation Place Advisory Group.
