Visitor Survey: North East England
During the summer of 2022, 2780 face-to-face surveys were undertaken with visitors to Durham, Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland. In summer 2021, 450 face-to-face surveys were undertaken with visitors to Northumberland. This report provides a snapshot of each area showing the kinds of visitors each attracts and how people rate the visitor experience of each of the destinations.
Perceptions research and visitor survey – Newcastle
In 2022, NewcastleGateshead Initiative conducted extensive research with residents, visitors, and non-visitors to Newcastle and Gateshead to better understand perceptions of the area, usage, satisfaction and barriers to visiting. 400 face-to-face surveys and almost 1200 online surveys were completed. This is relevant to those looking to attract visitors to Newcastle and Gateshead and those who play a role in visitor experience in the North East.
Digital Innovation Roadmap for North East England
Recognising the importance of digital innovation to drive sustainable growth for the visitor economy, a digital innovations roadmap has been developed to support digital initiatives across the next decade. This document shares the key outputs of bringing together a number of cross-industry stakeholders across the region to collectively develop a future-state vision for tourism in the region and a 10-year digital innovation roadmap to our ambitions. The roadmap is a resource for those setting strategy and designing funding programmes related to the visitor economy.
